Human to human H5N1 spread in the US;
Mo @mo_journeys · Replying to @RickABright @USDA and @GISAID Please take a look at this, H5N1 is possibly spreading human to human in Oregon and people affected are being denied tests x.com/mo_journeys/st… - < aria-expanded="false" aria-haspopup="menu" aria-label="More" role="" ="-175oi2r r-1777fci r-bt1l66 r-bztko3 r-lrvibr r-1loqt21 r-1ny4l3l" -testid="caret" ="" style="text-align: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-family: inherit; align-items: stretch; border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; border-color: black; display: flex; flex-basis: auto; flex-direction: column; flex-shrink: 0; list-style: none; margin: 0px; min-height: 20px; min-width: 0px; padding: 0px; : relative; : 0; overflow: ; justify-: center; cursor: pointer; outline-style: none; user-: none;"> DJ, Is the CDC overstretched because also CoViD may be "exploding" ? Are we moving towards a US-for now- Flu-Rona epidemic ? Or is CoViD and Flu not spreading in the same groups ?

When you follow the H5N1 "story" than you know H5N1 must have been widespread both in birds and mammals. In cattle part of the spread very likely is airborne (droplet-6 feet/2 meter distance or aerosol-wide area). So it has to result in human cases-very likely spreading via droplet/aerosol to other humans... For now "mild symptomatic" cases were reported-as far as tested. In the US no one has died -yet- from H5N1...as far as we know. However the number of H5N1 human cases in the US -most farmworkers- may run in the hundreds... Again-I am NOT any kind of expert ! Since infected cattle a.o. got exported to Mexico (from Texas a.o.) and raw milk consumption in Mexico is higher than in the US H5N1 may be in Mexico as well...but for now also a/mild-symptomatic. A lot of farm workers are from Central America-if ill they may be deported back to that -kept poor-region... International air travel may see H5N1 soon showing up in other places-if my idea/view is correct AND if there is any testing...

CDC A(H5N1) Bird Flu Response Update, July 19, 2024 ... In this week’s Spotlight, we include the key findings from the recent Michigan-led study that tested the blood of farmworkers from two dairy farms that experienced an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) virus among cattle. The study looked for antibodies that would indicate infection with the virus. None of the blood samples collected from people who had been exposed to infected dairy cows showed H5N1 antibodies. This is an important finding because it suggests that asymptomatic infections in people are not occurring and provides support to the current testing approach – i.e., collecting samples from symptomatic people who have been exposed to sick animals. DJ, So "twitter experts" (to put it that way) alarm about CDC NOT reacting to possible symptomatic H5N1 cases a.o. in Oregon. The CDC stating recent testing in Michigan farmworkers did NOT detect antibodies for H5N1 ? Maybe the level of testing is too small ? The wrong groups ? DJ-My view; A. Very likely H5N1 is spreading human-to-human in the US B. The CDC or other US agency has to make such a "story" official C. In this early stage it may not be that easy to "get a finger on it"...because H2H may still be limited. The farm workers most at risk may be illigal immigrants not willing to cooperate... Stories of farmworkers getting infected while working with infected cattle (eye infection during milking a.o.) are several MONTHS old...Testing is on a voluntary basis... Again -running behind the facts..

DJ-Again-so far it is not fully understood how cattle/cow-to-cow spread of H5N1 is going. So it may not be that easy to conclude we do have human-to-human spread of H5N1.
One needs to rule out other ways/sources. https://flutrackers.com/forum/forum/united-states/h5n1-tracking-af/991361-us-h5n1-human-case-list?view=stream or https://flutrackers.com/forum/forum/united-states/h5n1-tracking-af/991361-us-h5n1-human-case-list?view=stream latests; This is a dynamic list. Details of the cases will be added. 2024 United States - 6 link new human cases that are mild in Colorado - poultry farmworkers - situation developing... United States - Dairy farmworker, mild case with conjunctivitis, recovered, Colorado - reported July 3 United States - Dairy farmworker, mild case, respiratory, separate farm, in contact with H5 infected cows, Michigan - reported May 30 United States - Dairy farmworker, mild case, ocular, in contact with H5 infected livestock, Michigan - reported May 22 United States - Dairy farmworker, ocular, mild case, Texas - reported April 1 2022 United States - European strain - Male, 40, poultry worker, test confirmed on April, 27, mild case. Colorado DJ, This is the official CDC confirmed cases list of H5N1 human spread in the US. So 10 cases confirmed in 2024-7 of them in Colorado. The last 6 cases-all from Colorado-in poultry workers...the other 4 cattle infected (2 from Michigan, Texas and Colorado each 1) Also spread in mammals-detection goes on-worldwide. SE Asia also did see several H5N1 cases this year-all linked to birds. For that matter the US may detect bird-mammal-human trajects. It may be that -on a limited scale-mammal-human infections also happen in other places. For the US it is likely mammal-human spread has been going on for over 3 months ? (Texas case reported april 1). The H5N1 virus did get enough time to mutate to humans...

Late yesterday the CDC announced the confirmation of the (previously known) 5th and an additional 6th human H5 infection from the poultry farm in Weld County, Colorado. This brings the total number of H5 infections in the United States since March of this year to 10.
DJ, CDC is going for crowd management NOT providing data in time... |

In addition to announcing the 5th & 6th human H5 infections from the Weld Colorado poultry outbreak, last night's CDC's weekly avian flu update contained details on a small seroprevalence study looking at dairy workers in Michigan, and partial sequencing of the virus in Colorado. - The CDC also confirms what we first learned about earlier this week GISAID: The Plot Thickens; that it is the bovine B3.13 genotype that has spilled over into poultry, and then into humans, in Weld County, Colorado.

While there is certainly some heartening news in these reports, it is also fair to say that the goalposts have recently been moved. Had anyone dared predict last March - that in 4 months time - we'd have roughly 160 cattle herds infected with H5N1 across 13 states (an underestimate), that we'd be battling large mid-summer outbreaks of H5N1 in commercial poultry, and that we'd have chalked up 10 human cases in the U.S., they'd have been called an alarmist. A reminder that we shouldn't confuse `increasingly commonplace' with `normal'. DJ, If in a crisis known cases represent 4 to 15 x unknown cases then on top of 10 known human H5N1 infections between 40 and 150 unknown infections may be around. Next post Oregon twitter info on H5N1 H2H spread there-CDC simply not testing...

We saw in the Covid,Drs.not up on guidelines or their personal view on Covid dictated how they cared for patients or ordered testing..My Dr. would not prescribe paxlovid because he didn’t believe it worked. Your links for the Oregon family are posts from twitter,I could not find any backup,They reference to a CDC Dr refused them? |

We need an investigation into potential H2H spread in Oregon and the 1 million H5N1 tests in the U.S. must be accessible to farm works and the general public!
Make your own post: #H5N1TestsNOW DJ https://x.com/RickABright seems to take the stories serious enough to "re-twitter" them. My -non expert- view; -The "Mo"(re)twitters in itself may not be correct... -However 10 human confirmed cases of H5N1 is alarming -Indications for (a.o.) cow-to-cow spread (droplet/aerosol) -The 6 latest Colorado poultry workers did get the H5N1 from infected poultry that did have the cow-type of H5N1 (so from cattle to poultry to humans) -Given the "running after the facts" in CoViD a much more agressive approach for H5N1 may be/is needed. The CDC has 1 million tests for H5N1-in fact that is not that much on a population of 335 million US citizens. But better use them in time-to avoid a wide spread H2H H5N1 ! Avoiding panic is a goal however restoring trust HAS to be a main goal ! ------- I expect we may already be in an early stage of a H5N1 pandemic. H5N1 is that widespread in mammals around the globe-mostly after eating infected birds/prey it may be impossible to see further spread into humans. For that matter pets are a risk. Cats, dogs may get in contact with infected (dead) animals and catch the virus. Also "droppings" (infected birds, mice, rats) are a growing risk. Just my non-expert view...Trying to make up my opinion... CoViD -less immunity- may give H5N1-flu more room...A risk may detecting CoViD then not testing for H5N1...
