DJ, please do not take ideas/views on this forum personally... -If someone thinks "non christians" or "non-muslims" deserve to burn in hell forever-it is a view...If "praying solves any problem" maybe pray on the forum ! Should there be room for "politics" on this forum? YES; -How governments deal with problems is "politics". The CoViD pandemic was an outcome of terrible politics... NO; -It can destroy the forum...distract on where the focus may need to be; "pandemic watch"... DJ-I want to balance these two views...Most of the "politics" I post are from medical tweets...People dealing with healthissues frustrated on politics. The "CoViD is over" campain-saving the economy-during the pandemic still ongoing is another example of politics turning a healthissue into another pandemic CoViD wave... Mpox is NOT over-just out of the news...H5N1 is very widespread in mammals worldwide... The underlying problem is climate collapse. Pandemics as part of the sixth mass extinction...and "politics" worsening problems by wasting trillions on wars... Without World War One very likely the Spanish H1N1 flu would not have become the pandemic killing maybe 2-5% of the global population...Older pandemics may have had an even higher CFR-maybe killing 50%+ of a population... So-in my view-pandemics are very related to the background-including "politics"! Respect has to be the basis for any forum (or any democracy) ! A forum is a marketplace of opinions...lots of different opinions on a "healthy forum"... We are supposed to have different backgrounds and for that reason different views...There is not such a thing as a "100% correct view"... DJ...I am on this "forum" trying to make sense... -We are on the eve of wars on a scale not seen since 1945 -Climate disaster has "Debby" moving from sea-to-land several times...may bring extensive damage for over a week to the North America Atlantic region from Florida into Canada...unseen ! -CoViD should be a known pandemic-just like HIV-AIDS (still) is a pandemic...The WHO may again go for M-pox as a Public Healt Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) like they did in 2022...But "out of the news" is "no PHEIC"... -H5N1 showing up in both the US and Cambodia/SE Asia...People 50+y/o may have had a type of flu that may offer some protection...But even CoViD tests are running out... -Masks are criminalized...Olympics making lots of people ill/sick... Lots of things to discuss but hardly anyone else on this forum ? I feel like the "fool on the hill" from the Beatles song...still shocking tough...The world turned into a global sinking Titanic and hardly anyone cares...

I've only just got back in myself, I couldn't get in for a couple of days. The site location has changed and is at mpoxforum.com I think you were automatically redirected there, hence you had to log back in. I wasn't. So I've just found it and logged in and all's good. It's all just teething problems.

DJ...The total lack of any real testing on Mpox, H5N1, CoViD in most (western) countries-with international (air) travel still spreading diseases is insane.... Escalation by the US of wars-via UKraine/USrael proxies with other NATO members in general accepting this is insane... The climate collapse story is getting insane as well...Atlantic Ocean water was "that hot" it may heve resulted in depressions moving from central Africa to the north instead of the west...so less hurricanes but flooding in the Sahare desert... ----- DJ-I am a history "freak" so I did see a lot of crazy things...However most of those crazy things stayed local/regional...Pandemics could have ended a civilization in the past-but that would give "room" to other civilizations... In 2024 "crazy things" go global...are a risk for us all ! ------- Governments outsource their jobs...otherwise it is "socialism"...Control of anything is "dictatorship"...unless it is control over the poor... We will learn the very hard way-however may not survive it...Of course I hope to be 100% wrong ! I do understand why I am -in general- the only one active on this forum... |

DJ...I am "used" to a lot of insanity...the most frustrating part is insanity being repeated over and over... My goal on this forum was "to get a view/make up my mind" on "international events"... The "new normal" is-since we do not control the many crises-at least control the news on many crises... So..."no testing is no cases" for CoViD, Mpox, H5N1, etc..."climate collapse" used in fake political games (biden even increased US oil production...) "we are winning the many wars we started"....maybe lets go nuclear... DJ-Even I have limits...may need a break (so I take one...) Now cat-4 hurricane "Kirk" may reach Europe within a week...It may "de-escalate" to a strong storm, change direction-move north (to melt more of the Arctic...)... DJ-"My doomsday clock" has it 5 seconds to midnight...with the time ticking...The "official" doomsday clock still was at (an unprecedented) 90 seconds to midnight in january this year... One can start solving problems if you are willing to face them...Denial is the new normal...

DJ-Do I still want to "face reality" ? I certainly do not blame others for "living in their own bubble"-even if that results in voting for criminal idiots (like trump, in NL wilders..."freedom party fascists like pvv or vvd"). Burning people in hospital tents-patients still on IV-screaming because they can not walk...while they are burning...Because of US bombs-dropped from US (made) planes based on US/UK/NATO intel... H5N1, XEC-CoViD spreading but "the news is under control"..."media part of a killing machine".... DJ-I can make a choice to "look away" and not realize for many people this world more and more turning into a hellish place..because of NATO wars, long CoViD, economic/climate collapse... For now-just like most reading this- I am in a "safe place"....By trying to get a view I hope to be a tiny part willing to bring some improvements... An indivudual-in general-can do limited things. We are not all Greta Thunberg, MLK, or Gandhi... What is seen can not get un-seen...Denialism may be a survival skill...who am I to judge.. ---- Again-we may be in a very dark time now...yet history has a lot of very dark pages... During World War Two some military must have known about the nazi-death-camps...tried to get railways bombed to stop the holocaust...But bombing those railways were not a military priority...Dachau concentration camp opened in march 1933 and the communists, socialists, trade union-workers ending up there were "not popular" in most of the west... Time made hitler man of the year in 1938...anti-semitism was widespread...nazi-germany for many people was a horror...Still till december 1941 the US was a major bussiness partner for that germany... Today Germany is promoting war in UKraine, Palestine...the west has Germany as a major ally...A thing I hate is the "ecological/"green" ideas nazism had and the role the German "green party" -war mongers-is playing now... Do we never ever learn anything from history at all ? Do we stick to repeating madness with new means ? Are humans self-destructive by ignoring their history ?

Josh I can only think that there is something blocking new members joining. We haven't had a single one since the start up. The only members we have are the ones we moved over from the last site. If you have a spare email address, can you try logging off this forum and then visiting as a guest and trying to join, and then report back what you find out please. I suspect it'll tell you to wait for approval, but I have no idea where the approval is going to or coming from. Thanks.

Getting past the security-code is a very hard job...That may be one of the problems.... I would welcome more activity on this forum-also to "balance" my writing... A main goal for me is trying to understand complex matters...see patterns in how governments/experts deal with one issue (war, climate as example) and translate it to pandemics... I do follow "medical history" a few decades (started with recombinomics/H.Niman-he also had a forum on flu)-still that does NOT make me any kind of "expert"! I think a more wider view can help to get a better picture/understanding... That "wider view" has to include also ideas of others...so I hope a few more people will join this forum-maybe "just" to ask questions/get reactions !

DJ, I am NOT !!!! any kind of expert-have a limited history(teacher) background... On this-once-a forum I try to get a very basic-far from perfect-view of "developments". In my view diseases need a certain background to become pandemics. "Disease-transport-hosts" is optimized by a certain background. Wars, disasters, climate collapse do increase risks. Global stability and cooperation may limit pandemic risks. The "Spanish flu" without World War One may have been maybe "just a bad flu year"...not the worst pandemic in recent human history. In my (limited) view CoViD is -yet- not "as bad" as the Spanish flu...That flu/bacterial coinfection may have killed between 2% to 5% of the global population between 1917 and 1923. CoViD may have been able to infect most humans...may have resulted in close to 40 million deaths ("official" number is 7+ million with a positive CoViD test...). However we have 8,2 billion people so 0,5% of the population dying may be seen as "limited" (and maybe HIV/AIDS ongoing pandemic since 1981 may be also close to 40 million deaths-since 1981). There are lots of different view points. I try to find/follow views that I think may matter... In my view Non Pharma Intervention, masks, eye protection, ventilation-above all information- are basic. Try to limit the spread of disease as soon as possible as good as possible ! R0 <1 ! Vaccines and anti-virals have to play a limited role in pandemics. Virusses (and bacteria) find ways around those steps-so you end up in a race between vaccines and mutations... "Living with the virus" -in case of CoViD-was a very bad idea ! Flu may result in "herd/group-immunity", CoViD does not ! You need to "balance" pandemic strategies with economy. "Saving the economy" at the cost of public health is criminal ! The climate collapse-pandemic link is complex but clear...Lots of animals/plants in increased stress/pressure finding food...Humans getting more and more in contact with wild life. CoViD damages immunity so a.o. Mpox did see a chance to go "global". H5N1 may have seen "room" also because of CoViD-damage in (animal) hosts. "One Health"-humans do NOT live on an island-should be basic ! H5N1 has been around for years-slowly moving towards humans... I follow lots of sources-still I have my own basic ideas (see above)...not "neutral" but willing to learn...
