DJ-Good overview + links.

California is good for 20% of US milk production. Out of the 1,100 California herds over 100 did see H5N1 in cattle...Infected cattle=less milk...
-----
In NW Europe Blue Tongue Virus (BTV) did spread from NL in 2023...It is now in the south of DenmarK (DK), west part of Germany, Belhium, France...maybe even some north parts of Spain, UK...

The spread of BTV-type 3 escalated in NL in september(the summer) of 2023.
Detection of a BTV-type 12 in sheep and cattle is "a shock"....

Vaccinations were supposed to limit BTV-type 3...but for now seems not to do its job...
BTV-type 12 so far has NO vaccines to stop it....

DJ-It is to early to say how much NL/Europe dairy/milk production will get involved...And there are lots of dairy products in (EU subsidized) storage...
-------
H5N1 did spread in birds/poultry...will affect the price of eggs-in that way also a lot of food products...However in NL H5N1 spread in poultry now may be under control....

DJ-Trade wars limit global trade of food. Worsenin local/regional problems.

The big question is how CoViD, H5N1, BTV etc will spread further and in what species....

The African Swine Fever outbreak-just before CoViD started (2018-2020 global ASF problems) did see tens of millions of pigs killed...(some burried/burned alive...)

That food crisis -for now- may have been worse then the present one....

DJ-Farm animals are a pandemic major risk....IF (!!!!) CoViD was a co-infection with ASF in pigs-and was missed-then maybe CoViD and the damages in the trillions- are the price we pay for eating intelligent creatures like pigs, cows....

We have to change the way we live...
