Till april 2 NL did see 209 reported cases of measles-most in children <10 y/o and unvaccinated. Several clusters in major cities-in part cases imported from Morocco.

Vaccination in orthodox christians is also "low"-measles R0-spread is high...so measles cases may expand from major urban centers to the NL "bibble belt" (Most likely in the Rotterdam area-there both groups live quite close to eachother-may mix at secondary schools in age group 12 y/o+).

When are you protected against measles?

  • If you have been vaccinated once or have had measles, you are protected.
  • Were you born before 1965? Then you do not need a vaccine. There is a good chance that you have had measles and you are protected against measles.
  • Were you born between 1965 and 1975? You are only protected if you know you have had measles .
  • Were you born after 1975? Then you were offered the measles vaccination in the National Vaccination Program. Check whether you have had it.
  • As a healthcare worker, you are protected if you have had measles or if you have had two vaccinations with at least 28 days in between.

How do you make an appointment for a measles vaccination?

  • If you are not protected, you can make an appointment. The vaccination costs money. The costs are 82 euros (32.50 euros for the consultation and 49.50 euros for the vaccine).
  • You cannot make an appointment if you are already protected (born before 1965, previously vaccinated, or had measles).

Read this before your appointment:

  • Are you pregnant or do you want to become pregnant? Contact us.
  • Do you have a weakened immune system due to illness or medication? Contact us.
  • Do you have a fever the day before your appointment? You cannot get a vaccination.
  • Are you having an operation under anesthesia within 2 weeks? You ca n't get a vaccination.
DJ, Most NL health insurances do cover the costs of a measles vaccination. (Very likely government may encourage people to get a vaccine if measles cases keep going up...It is "cost effective"-vaccinating people against measles is far cheaper then seeing them getting ill !).

IF measles starts showing up in groups supposed to have (natural/vaccine) immunity (60+ Y/o supposed to have had measles) then alarmbells should start ringing !

CoViD may have undermined immunity against measles...It could indicate further immunity damage...

Because of "the don of death-trump" tariffs war pharma trade (with the US) may become more expensive...So people in the US will see public healthcare further destroyed by the "trump-team"....

April 16 EU, China and Vietnam will meet in Hanoi to discuss a joined reaction on US insanity. China, India have a pharma capacity big enough to "vaccinate the world"....(without going for crazy profits). Maybe even NGO's could offer FREE measles vaccines in the US ?
