A "PHEIC"-called by the WHO- (World Health Organization) is NOT the same as a pandemic;
A Public Health EMERGENCY of International Concern however may be the start of such a pandemic. CoViD is no longer "emerging"-a NEW disease...in a "showing up phase"...(because "old" diseases can become pandemic as well...)

Since the "Spanish Flu" was the last major killer-pandemic; may have killed up to 5% of the global population between 1917 and 1923-a lot of "experts" did see "flu" as the major pandemic risk...

However HIV/AIDS, CoViD, Mpox are all major risks-by now- and NOT "a type of flu"...

https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/bacterial-pneumonia-caused-most-deaths-1918-influenza-pandemic or https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/bacterial-pneumonia-caused-most-deaths-1918-influenza-pandemic ; The majority of deaths during the influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 were not caused by the influenza virus acting alone, report researchers from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health. Instead, most victims succumbed to bacterial pneumonia following influenza virus infection. The pneumonia was caused when bacteria that normally inhabit the nose and throat invaded the lungs along a pathway created when the virus destroyed the cells that line the bronchial tubes and lungs.

DJ; In the last few years we did see (non-sense) "discussions" on hospital cases/deaths "with" or "from" CoViD....Point is CoViD did play a role...Like with the H1N1 "Spanish Flu" bacterial pneumonia did get a "chance to kill"....
