A debilitating virus originating in sloths and spread by insect bites, including midges and mosquitos, has been reported for the first time in Europe. 
The Oropouche virus has been reported in 19 people in the past two months, according to the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC). 
Twelve were reported in Spain, five in Italy, and two in Germany. There is no vaccine for the disease which originates in pale-throated sloths, non-human primates and birds.

A record number of Dutch tourists contracted dengue fever while traveling abroad in the first half of this year. In the first six months, the Eurocross emergency center received 112 reports of Dutch tourists who got the disease. In all of last year, there were 43 reports, the Telegraaf reports. Eurocross expects around 200 dengue fever reports by the end of the year. 
DJ...Dengue may be spreading INSIDE western Europe already...We have-by now-thousends of animals (most in sheep and cattle) of Blue Tongue Virus Disease (BTVD)...

So far BTVD in 2023 also showed up "NEW" in 2 farm dogs...Maybe also cats may catch it...The suggestion is humans will not catch BTVD...untill they do...

By the way I had to look "sloth" up...still improving my English !
