These cases, and well as the Kenyan Rwandan and Burundi cases are all imported from the DRC (for now).
They are almost certainly clade 1b due to their proximity to the DRC 1b outbreak. This has not been genetically confirmed yet.
The DRC 1b outbreak is centred in South Kivu Provence, the mining town of Kamituga, and Goma.
These imported cases came from these areas (see map below).
MPOX 1b cannot be contained now. We have missed our opportunity to vaccinate locally. Clade 1b will spread worldwide .
