   Since pandemics are NOT new people did look for ways to protect themselves against (spread of) disease for centuries. 
-Masks may have been used even in Roman times ! Modern N95 (etc) masks use electro static electricity to stop even very small viral parts...

Since we live in the age of stupidity "masks do not work" idiots deny a few thousend years of medical history....

-Eye-protection also goes back centuries. In part early "doctors" did use glasses more the average practice learned eyes may be a way to get infected...

-"Social distancing" often in history did not proof that hard...Blocking an area with a disease spreading in humans-killing all those that tried to escape-was widely used untill a few hundred years back...In modern medicine testing is supposed to detect disease and stop spread...

A major problem is testing/sequencing; "public health" costs money=tax...The "rich" do not want to pay tax...They rather buy politicians denying the problems...

Big Pharma can make a lot of profits by producing vaccines...The good news is vaccines do help in lots of diseases ! The bad news is profits/greed push up the price so most of the world is NOT vaccinated...

And-of course-age of stupid-"non-vaxers" claim "vaccines do more harm then good"...

DJ-Vaccines can cause health issues. In limited numbers vaccines may even kill...In "a perfect world" there would not be a need for vaccines..in the real world vaccines are one of the reasons a lot of people are still alive when they reach 60-70 years...Untill 1900 life expectency-because of infectious diseases-was 40 years...

In a better world vaccines would NOT be for profit but for public health...You can NOT fight any pandemic if you only manage to vaccinate less then 50% of the global population because of "profits/share holder greed". 

So "de-privatize/nationalize" big pharma ! 

Of course "the rich" making money out of wars, health crises buy politicians claiming "private owned big parma-going for maximum profits" is "good"...while both wars and pandemics are preventable evil !
