**American Crusade: Our Fight to Stay Free**

In the book, Hegseth calls for an "American crusade", writing against what he believed to be America's enemies including leftists and Islam. The book gained sustained attention after Hegseth was nominated to be the Secretary of Defense by US President-elect Donald Trump.

Hegseth says he believes there are "irreconcilable differences between the Left and the Right in America leading to perpetual conflict that cannot be resolved through the political process". He furthermore calls for an "American crusade"; he says the "hour is late for America. Beyond political success, her fate relies on exorcising the leftist specter dominating education, religion, and culture – a 360-degree holy war for the righteous cause of human freedom".^[3] Central to the theme of the "American Crusade" is that there is something called "Americanism", which The Guardian describes as essentially being right-wing populism. Hegseth characterizes "Americanism" in being opposition to forces like feminism, globalism, Marxism and progressivism and says either "Americanism" will prevail or "death" will.^[4]

DJ, There have been several studies on "politicians and mental health"...A general conclusion may be some politicians may need "to rebalance"...

The US-war NEVER only was with other countries...US "crime" is exported-but is a basic US internal issue since the start of the US.

While the number of gun deaths in the U.S. fell for the second consecutive year, it remained among the highest annual totals on record.

On a per capita basis, there were 13.7 gun deaths per 100,000 people in 2023. That was down from 14.2 per 100,000 in 2022 and 14.6 per 100,000 in 2021, and well below the peak of 16.3 per 100,000 in 1974.

Those with the lowest gun murder rates included Hawaii (1.5), Utah (1.8), Nebraska (1.8), Idaho (1.8) and Massachusetts (1.8). Rate estimates are not available for New Hampshire, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming.
The places with the highest gun suicide rates in 2023 included Wyoming (19.0 per 100,000 people), Montana (17.6), Alaska (16.0), Idaho (15.1) and Oklahoma (13.6).

The U.S. gun death rate was 10.6 per 100,000 people in 2016, the most recent year in the study, which used a somewhat different methodology from the CDC. That was far higher than in countries such as Canada (2.1 per 100,000) and Australia (1.0), as well as European nations such as France (2.7), Germany (0.9) and Spain (0.6).
But it was much lower than in El Salvador (39.2 per 100,000 people), Venezuela (38.7), Guatemala (32.3), Colombia (25.9) and Honduras (22.5). Overall, the U.S. ranked 20th in its gun fatality rate that year, the study found.

DJ, Some parts of the US seem to be in a never ending civil war...Another outcome over 0,5%/2 million+ US citizens in prison...Somewhere between 1/4 and 1/5 of ALL people in prison worldwide are in US prisons...

The US is producing chaos&crime and exporting it...(as far as there are "good" statistics; "very christian US" is also the major porn producer...Drug-related deaths record high...). 

An unhealthy society not only creating violence inside its borders but spreading it around the globe...The US HAS TO DO BETTER !!!!
