DJ, The US NEEDS to import some products it is unable to produce (enough) itself...from coffee, some sorts of pharma to Russian uranium, special sorts of oil [url]https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.php/news-selections/national-news/keystone-oil-pipeline-shutdown-could-quickly-lead-to-higher-gasoline-prices[//url] or steel..

Tariffs war may end up weakening the US global position even more...

India and China are in competition. India is now #1 in population, China slowly moving towards a decrease of its population (still China has over 4x the number of people per km2 then the US has).

In GDP-PPP China is #1, US-#2, India moving towards #3 (and Russia #4)...If one would include the EU the EU would be the #2-after China.

DenmarK is pushing for a boycott of US products because of the Greenland -trump phantasy...Canada may export oil, raw materials, products to Asia and Europe...with even limited "suggestions" of Canada even joining the EU.

Part of the trade war is the position of the US$ as global reserve currency...So far both the UK and EU accepted the US$ as currency for energy deals...even at the cost of their own currencies. This also soon may end...

The EU/UK sticks to "war with Russia" but has to import energy...Africa/West Asia may offer lower prices then the US energy trade can offer...(and in part pipelines may be used for transport).  But both African countries and Asia may NOT use the US$...

The Euro-in reaction to trump-tariff-agression- may increase its role as part of currencies replacing the US$ in international trade.

The US has a trade defecit because it buys more then it sells...imports more then exports. And lots of countries were selling goods & services to the US on credit...

It is a US policy-for decades-to "buy on credit" in US$ all over the world to "enforce" the US$ as a global currency...The US did this to itself...

Leaders willing to sell oil/energy outside the petro-dollar were killed by NATO/US wars...

As long as the US could enforce its rules on "trading partners" there was no problem for the US...a lot of countries were kept poor by "the (neo-colonial) west"...

Our silence is violent

Gandhiji called poverty a moral collapse of society, and he believed its roots lie in what he called the seven social evils. He named them wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, worship without sacrifice, and politics without principles. Let us keep in mind, Gandhiji wrote this in 1925.

And indeed, what is poverty but a passive form of violence? A chronic abuse of human dignity that strips away a person's humanity, and corrodes the human spirit? When a woman does back-breaking work for ten hours a day but cannot feed her family with her earnings, society has scorned her labour. When construction workers build housing complexes but they remain homeless and migrants, society has snatched away their right to safety and a sense of belonging. When a woman dies in childbirth, society shows no regard for her life. When a farmer grows food for the world, but goes hungry himself, society is callous. Such are the ways in which society gives its social consent to let the situation continue. For this reason, I say that our silence is violent. Our looking the other way is a form of consent. It is our moral failure that we still tolerate poverty.

DJ, A billionaire class buying politics, press, science is NOT freedom, is NOT democracy but it is slavery and exploitation...
