The above image, from an earlier post, shows that the February 2024 temperature was 1.76°C above 1885-1915, potentially 2.75°C above pre-industrial (bright yellow inset right). The image was created by Sam Carana for Arctic-news.blogspot.com with an April 2024 data.giss.nasa.gov screenshot. The red line (6 months Lowess smoothing) highlights the steep rise that had already taken place in early 2023. The image below, created with Climate Reanalyzer content, shows that June 2024 was substantially hotter than June 2023, which is significant since we're not in an El Niño anymore. Moreover, monthly temperatures are also rising. DJ, Governments fail to protect their citizens...pandemics are very strongly linked to climate collapse...In both governments come with empty words, hiding data and censorship... The danger is that feedbacks and further developments will accelerate the temperature rise even more. Critical in this respect is the condition of Arctic sea ice. Arctic sea ice decline The image below, adapted from the Danish Metereological Institute, indicates that Arctic sea ice volume is at a record low for the time of year, as it has been for most of the year. DJ A look at Antarctica; https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1759.4500.html#lastPost or https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1759.4500.html#lastPost ; - Extent gain on this day 52k, 16 k less than the average gain on this day (of the last 10 years) of 68k, - Extent gain from minimum on this date is 11.93 million km2, 0.64 million km2, (5.1%) less than the 10 year average of 12.57 million km2. - Extent is 2nd lowest in the 45 year satellite record DJ https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1760.800.html#lastPost or https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1760.800.html#lastPost ; It looks like WE are up to losing a big chunk of the tongue soon Glaciers in (West) Antarctica are breaking up...Greenland/Canada/Alaska/Siberia Arctic regions -in general- simply to hot ! Ice can cool a place down...the less ice the less cooling...Hurricanes/storms may bring warm air and rain to the Poles... In many countries temperature 40C+/100F+ ...we have two more warm months to go !
