Is this true?
Is this really a NEW VIRUS?
Seems suspect to me.
China's Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention clarifies fatality rate of HMPV:
 Usually mild cold virus, but children, immunocompromised populations and the elderly are susceptible and are more likely to be co-infected with other respiratory viruses .
HMPV infection can RARELY lead to death. 1% of acute lower respiratory infection-related deaths in children under age five can be attributed to HMPV.

Chinese researchers have apparently identified significant MUTATIONS in three key proteins (A2 lineages), which may make the virus more transmissible, and more severe.
There are reports of children getting ENCEPHALITIS from HMPV.
