DJ...statistics have limits...if hospital admissions are very low an increase of 24% may mean 1 extra admission in the latest week...However in general the global trend for CoViD is underlining we are still in a CoViD pandemic (WHO view)

(above should be the link to corona headsup twitter feed)

Recent H5N1 viruses are evolving increased receptor binding breadth which could impact the host range and cell types infected A single mutation in dairy cow-associated H5N1 viruses increases receptor binding breadth H/t

DJ, H5N1 is one of the emerging flu types to watch.

"Human" flu mostly is a H1, H2 or H3 typo of flu...however H5, H7, H9 types of -most- bird flu seems to be an increasing risk.

DJ, "A few diseases to watch" means a need for increased testing !

We need extra finance to go to public health, study on diseases, spread...

One of the reasons why we may NOT see money going there is because we do know a lot of the answers; We have to change the way we live because we are killing ourselves...

< aria-expanded="false" aria-haspopup="menu" aria-label="More" role="" ="-175oi2r r-1777fci r-bt1l66 r-bztko3 r-lrvibr r-1loqt21 r-1ny4l3l" -testid="caret" ="" style="text-align: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-family: inherit; align-items: stretch; border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; border-color: black; display: flex; flex-basis: auto; flex-direction: column; flex-shrink: 0; list-style: none; margin: 0px; min-height: 20px; min-width: 0px; padding: 0px; : relative; : 0; overflow: ; justify-: center; cursor: pointer; outline-style: none; user-: none;">
The situation of #H5N1 feels like watching a car crash in slow motion….where’s the global push to contain the spread of this virus in so many animals?

DJ, Both CoViD and H5N1 have become widespread in mammals. Cat/rat-like animals eat infected birds catching H5N1.  CoViD did spread from humans into animals...

One of my questions is if there was a link between https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_swine_fever_virus#2018%E2%80%932020_African_swine_fever_panzootic or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_swine_fever_virus#2018%E2%80%932020_African_swine_fever_panzootic and the start of CoViD...

A WHO-study does not think a "lab-leak" is that likely. CoViD-19=SARS-2...We had SARS-1 in 2003. That WAS contained...MERS is still around-but limited...

The basic question/idea is one disease may not stay in one species/host-animal...it can also start/increase risks for other diseases...

CoViD did increase risks for H5N1 as a next pandemic...
