DJ, No "new news" jumping out-but the general picture for pandemics is bad;
-CoViD widespread with lots of new variants -H5N1 does spread via raw milk from infected cows in the US -Most H5N1 cases this year worldwide may be missed; no/mild symptoms/no testing...still spreading... -WHO may again declare Mpox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHE-IC) ...some places go for 100% stupid making masks illigal...Masks/eye protection (+ washing hands/gloves in high risk areas) may be the best protection when dealing with lots of diseases being a risk... Covering of skin may also limit risks of insect-infections... The idea "vaccines will save us" may become more and more unrealistic. Vaccines may limit damage but do NOT stop pandemics...(however BigPharma in "the west" making big profits-no doubt part of it going to "donations to politicians for sale")... Background; wasting trillions in criminal endless wars is -finally- hitting a wall...No sane person wants to buy US debts-even at high interest rates... Problem is most likely LESS money to healthcare and education...MORE to armies protecting a corrupt elite...A pattern not new in history-I only hoped not to see this on this scale in 2024... So-short term future will be a "hard ride" ..learning the hard way is never easy...

Some of my sources are going on holiday...taking a time out. On top of "limited" info from official institutions (like CDC, WHO) and in general denialism of any problem it may get harder to get a view on "unfolding events"...in short three major items;
-Pandemics; Very likely worsening because of travel at pre-pandemic levels, masks being criminalized...lots of diseases... -War; BRICS+ doing all it can to deny natanyahu the war he wants...UKraine near collapse...NATO getting more and more divided...DJ-Since the US/NATO is the major aggressor in the world a break up of NATO is more than welcome ! Türkiye staying in NATO may be even worse for war mongers than Türkiye getting out of NATO...The Gaza-genocide is ending a "limited unity" on UKraine...However the UKraine turning into another endless-costly- war with neo-nazi's going for war crimes is getting opposition more and more in most NATO member states... -Climate; Extreme heat, extreme weather in many places...Still "denialism" is widespread..."We are finding out the hard way" that going for 1850 as "pre-industrial" is simply fraud...Lying to yourself is not solving anything...If one goes for 1700-1750 baseline temperature rise may be 2,75C+....Making REALISTIC strategies even more urgent... In general; We have to start changing the way we live. We are destroying our planet and -with that- killing ourselves. Time is running out !

DJ, I hoped this forum would see more activity...On the other hand-looking at this month-the picture is very depressing...
-We are NOT stopping ANY new/old pandemic at all...From (never over) Mpox, CoViD to H5N1...with in the north of China a new H3N3 -high risk- type of flu in birds.... -Wars are getting a few people very rich...so why stop it...Wars have -in fact- destroyed UKraine, USrael...like NATO earlier destroyed Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan etc. The only "good news" is the present amount of NATO insanity is destroying NATO itself.... -Politics are becoming a sick joke...."uni-parties" agreeing on most major issues in most western countries made democracy into democrazy...with "free media" doing all the can to end free speech... -Climate wise; We do still not see the large amount of hurricanes...but polar ice is in a very bad shape. My view "AMOC-ending" may be the "new" 1 meter sealevelrise by 2100...The main point is oceans simply getting to hot...causing all kind of chain events/feed backs making matters much worse much faster... When you put all of the above together we are moving towards the worst crises humans may have faced in all of human existance...with idiots denying any problem and promoting war...We are facing a very hard lesson !
