A tragic case of rabies in a person in Ontario was reported earlier this month. Very few details about the case have been released publicly, other than the person was exposed to a bat in Ontario and became progressively ill, later being admitted to hospital with clinical signs of encephalitis and symptoms consistent with rabies. The state Department of Health announced the death Friday after the rabies infection was confirmed in testing by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sept. 20. The case is the seventh on record in Minnesota since 1917, and the fourth since 2000. All seven of the infections were fatal.... DJ, Minnesota and Ontario are just a Canada-US border away from each other...Is there a bat spreading rabies more agressive ? If it is this rare...how can one see two cases this close in just one month ????
