On 28 March 2025 at 12:50 MMT (06:20 UTC), a strong earthquake struck SagaingMyanmar. The United States Geological Survey rated it a 7.7 in magnitude.[2] The earthquake caused significant damage in Myanmar and in neighboring Thailand.
DJ, From India to Vietnam, China the quake was felt-so far over 40 deaths...

Powerful earthquake originating on the Thai-Myanmar border was felt as far as Bangkok 700+km away, reports of serious damage are circulating including footage of collapsed high-rise buildings, particularly at construction sites. Beware of aftershocks which can hit hours, even days or longer after the original event.

Some would claim there may be a link..

NO tsunami warning because the quake was far from the sea/Indian Ocean.

Mandalay (/ˌmændəˈl/ or /ˈmændəl/Burmeseမန္တလေးMLCTSmanta.le: [màndəlé]) is the second-largest city in Myanmar, after Yangon. Located on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River, 631 km (392 miles; road distance) north of Yangon, the city has a population of 1,225,553 (2014 census).

DJ, a lot of damage/deaths in Myanmar.

On 28 March 2025 at 12:50:54 MMT (06:20:54 UTC), a Mw 7.7 earthquake struck the Sagaing Region of Myanmar, with an epicenter close to Mandalay, the country's second largest city. The strike-slip faulting shock achieved a maximum Modified Mercalli intensity of IX (Violent).[3] It was the most powerful earthquake to strike Myanmar since 1912 and the deadliest since 2011. The earthquake caused significant damage in Myanmar and in neighboring Thailand.

The earthquake resulted in at least 186 deaths: 181 in Myanmar and five in Thailand.[4]

DJ- US Disaster experts; 34% chance deaths between 10,000 and 100,000...

It will increase pandemic risks

We did see a New Zealand M 6,7 at march 25. Today march 28 an M 7,7 in Myanmar...
Location
22.013°N 95.922°E

Should we expect a M 8+ in the Iran-Nepal region before april 1-4 ? Or does it increase earthquake risks in the Japan region ?

DJ-Quite strong...

Some claim a major quake may "echo" on the other side of the globe. Also sometimes time lines "hint" at one quake "starting up/linked" to the next (major) quake...
-
Decrease of land ice in polar and mountain regions (from Greenland, Antarctica to the Himalaya) does decrease pressure on underlying land-may increase seismic activity...

A devastating M7.7 earthquake just struck Myanmar / Burma, and now perhaps as many as 100,000 or more are feared dead. This earthquake was especially damaging due to it striking just west of the nation's 2nd most populous city. The earthquake even caused a skyscraper to collapse far away from its epicenter in Thailand. Today's video will discuss why this earthquake occurred through the perspective and analysis of a geologist.
DJ, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_2010_Haiti_earthquake or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_2010_Haiti_earthquake may have seen 300,000 people killed-was followed by a cholera outbreak killing thousends more...

I am keeping my eye on the USGS website to see if any other M6,5+ quakes show up...

(I can not get rid of the numbers-linked to the YouTube link...)

DJ, No idea if this quake could be related to the Mandalay/Myanmar quake..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Myanmar_earthquake or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Myanmar_earthquake latest numbers;

The earthquake has resulted in more than 2,600 deaths in Myanmar and 18 in Thailand.[5][6] More than 3,400 people were injured. Hundreds more were reported missing, including at a collapsed construction site in Bangkok, which, due to its shallow geology, is more vulnerable to seismic waves from far away, and lack of awareness, increasing the city's susceptibility to earthquake-related impacts.[7][8] Authorities in both Myanmar and Thailand declared an emergency, and expect the death toll to rise.[9][10] The ongoing civil war in Myanmar has exacerbated the difficulty of disaster relief.[11]

DJ, I do not see reports of infectious diseases
