The history of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) begins in the immediate aftermath of World War II when British diplomacy set the stage to contain the Soviet Union and to stop the expansion of Soviet power in Europe. The United Kingdom and France signed, in 1947, the Treaty of Dunkirk, a defensive pact, which was expanded in 1948 with the Treaty of Brussels to add the three Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) and committed them to collective defense against an armed attack for fifty years. The British worked with Washington to expand the alliance into NATO in 1949, adding the United States and Canada as well as Italy, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland.^[1] Greece and Turkey joined in 1952, West Germany joined in 1955, Spain joined in 1982, Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland joined in 1999, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia joined in 2004, Albania and Croatia joined in 2009, Montenegro joined in 2017, North Macedonia joined in 2020, Finland joined in 2023, and Sweden joined in 2024.

DJ, So NL, Belgium joined "pre-NATO" in 1948...At that time all major members UK-France-NL and Belgium all were in (lots of) colonial wars...in Africa and Asia most...

From the start "stop communism" was part of a neo-colonial agenda. Therefore pro-western "leaders" in (former) colonies had to allow western companies to steal energy, gold, order coffee, cacao, fruits etc...

The basic idea was "western whites" know best..."colonial subjects" were there to be exploited...De-colonization did result in neo-colonialism without the burden to "care for people"...."Keep them poor and uneducated"-was good for profits....

"USrael" also started in 1948....backed by both the US and Soviet Union. The Soviet Union-stalin-hoped former Jewish Red Army/World War Two veterans would play a major role in a "Jewish State"....

They’ve managed to “perfect” fascism while insisting that they are the “victim”. This is an entirely new level DJ, USrael may have started in reaction of the nazi-horrors. The holocaust mass murder of over 6 million Jews can push a "limited group" -like people identifying as "Jewish" into seeking safety in a "Jewish State".... Certainly given the anti-semitism for centuries in most western countries-based on christianity blaming the "Jews" for murdering jesus... However it resulted in USrael becoming an apartheid state where even a lot of less extreme zionists no longer feel at home...

	Did write a part 3 on colonial wars, anti communism ...posted it...gone...So I will write on it later on... Let me be clear-I HATE the idea the west is not far from nazism now...Nazism/fascism is mixed in western history NOT an isolated exception... NOT stopping climate collapse/pandemics -because profits matter more than humans- should alarm us all !
