This infestation is extreme but it ups the ante when they are finding infected house mice near H5n1 outbreaks Also, APHIS recently confirmed 19 more H5N1 detections in house mice, raising the total to 66. All are from New Mexico's Roosevelt County. Bird flu found in house cats, mice in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma |

Why the discovery of H5N1 bird flu in mice is so alarming They scurry beneath floorboards, hide in cupboards and roam our offices, larders and restaurants. Travelling in groups, they can climb through pipes, voids, and other tight spaces to move with ease from place to place, house to house. They thrive in groups of up to two dozen and practically live on top of each other – meaning viruses can rapidly spread between them. This brings the virus closer to human homes. Where they captured the so far 66 infected,in field or homes of Roosevelt county, it hasn’t been revealed.it’s a scary prospect. |

If 66 mice test positive for H5N1-would that represent 1% of "realistic number of H5N1 spread" at that moment...so stand for 6600 infected mice ?
Or is even that to optimistic ? Must it be 10,000 infected mice+ already ? How fast does it spread in mice ? And in what ways ? -Reproduction may do it..."baby-mice" catching it from their mothers, "papa" mouse infecting "mama mouse"... -Eating infected "food"...and since mice eat a lot of things -from droppings to dead animals- they may see infection increase high speed that way... -M2M spread ? Living very close together, droplet spread will do... So how dangerous is H5N1, other types of flu, CoViD or any other sort of disease in mice ? I think mice do have all kinds of diseases...most of them may have been of limited risk for humans. Simply because we managed to keep "a wall" between the world of mice and men... Washing fresh products, storing food in places where mice can not get...cooking food may limit risk... DJ...however this "wall" strategy has its limits...If there ends up being high viral loads in lots of products the "wall" may be broken...
